ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18 G835LX 2025 Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX 64GB DDR5 RAM 4TB SSD RTX 5090 24GB 18 Inch 2.5K Mini LED 240Hz Gaming Laptop Nairobi Kenya

Some buyers simply need a laptop that can run games. Others want a machine that can deliver premium graphics, manage demanding professional projects and remain powerful for years without requiring an early replacement.

The ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18 G835LX is designed for the second buyer.

Its 18-inch Mini LED display provides the scale and visual quality of a serious desktop setup, while the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU brings flagship mobile graphics performance to demanding games, 3D projects, video-production workflows and supported AI applications.

The Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, 64GB DDR5 RAM and 4TB of fast SSD storage ensure that the rest of the system can keep pace. Games load quickly, large projects have room to grow and demanding applications can run together without constantly forcing the user to close programs or move files to external drives.

This is a premium desktop-replacement laptop for enthusiast gamers, professional creators and technical users who will genuinely benefit from its large display, substantial graphics memory and sustained high-power performance.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU gives buyers the freedom to experience current AAA games at the SCAR 18’s native 2560 × 1600 resolution using high or ultra settings, depending on the game.

Its 24GB of dedicated GDDR7 graphics memory provides space for detailed textures, ray-traced environments, large game worlds and demanding visual effects.

Supported NVIDIA technologies such as DLSS, ray reconstruction and Multi Frame Generation can improve performance in compatible games while maintaining strong visual quality.

This configuration is suitable for titles such as: Cyberpunk 2077, Call of Duty, Forza Horizon, Red Dead Redemption, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Black Myth: Wukong, Battlefield, Assassin’s Creed, Grand Theft Auto and Other demanding current and future AAA releases

ASUS configures the RTX 5090 Laptop GPU at up to 175W TGP, giving it the power headroom required to perform properly in demanding games and professional applications. rog.asus.com

The mobile RTX 5090 is different from the larger desktop RTX 5090. However, it represents the highest GeForce Laptop GPU tier offered in the 2025 SCAR 18.

Competitive players benefit from more than raw graphics power.

The 240Hz refresh rate displays up to 240 frames per second when the game and hardware can produce them. This can improve motion clarity and responsiveness in games such as: Valorant, Counter-Strike 2, Fortnite, Rainbow Six Siege, Overwatch, Apex Legends, Call of Duty multiplayer and Rocket League

NVIDIA G-SYNC synchronises compatible gameplay with the screen to reduce tearing and stuttering when frame rates change. The 3ms response time also helps reduce visible motion blur during fast movement.

The 18-inch ROG Nebula HDR display is one of the strongest reasons to choose the SCAR 18 over a smaller gaming laptop.

Its Mini LED backlight uses more than 2,000 local-dimming zones to improve dark-scene detail, highlights and contrast. The 2560 × 1600 resolution produces sharper images than Full HD, while the 16:10 aspect ratio provides more vertical space for games and professional applications.

The display also provides 100% DCI-P3 colour coverage, making it valuable for video editing, digital design and other colour-sensitive creative work.

ASUS combines Mini LED picture quality with a 240Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time and Advanced Optimus. Buyers therefore receive a display suited to both premium visual experiences and competitive gameplay. rog.asus.com

Unlike OLED, Mini LED does not use organic self-emitting pixels. It is a practical choice for users who regularly display static gaming interfaces, editing timelines, development environments or professional toolbars for long periods.

The Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX combines 24 cores and 24 threads with boost speeds of up to 5.40GHz.

Its 8 Performance cores handle demanding active workloads, while 16 Efficient cores assist with background tasks and heavily threaded applications.

This processing power benefits buyers who: Game and livestream simultaneously, Edit and export high-resolution video, Compile large software projects,Render processor-based scenes, Run multiple virtual machines, Produce music with large plug-in sessions, Process extensive photography catalogues, Use architecture or engineering applications and Keep several professional applications running together

ASUS allows the processor to operate at up to an 80W TDP in the SCAR 18. The large chassis provides greater cooling capacity than a thin gaming laptop, helping the processor maintain stronger performance during prolonged workloads. rog.asus.com

Most current games do not require 64GB RAM by themselves. The value of this capacity becomes clear when the laptop is used for both gaming and professional work.

The supplied 64GB DDR5 RAM gives demanding applications room for: Complex Adobe After Effects compositions, Large Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve timelines, Detailed Blender and Cinema 4D scenes, Unreal Engine development, Multiple virtual machines, Large programming environments, Architectural models, Extensive professional multitasking and Supported AI and data workloads

Both memory modules are accessible through two SODIMM slots. ASUS also supports faster compatible memory configurations, although the final operating speed depends on the installed capacity, modules and processor support. rog.asus.com

Large games, raw video and 3D assets can quickly fill an ordinary 512GB or 1TB drive.

The 4TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe storage gives buyers substantial internal capacity for: A large AAA game library, Raw 4K video footage, 3D assets and texture libraries, Photography catalogues, Virtual machines, Development environments, AI models and datasets and Client files used while travelling

Some 4TB configurations use two 2TB SSDs in RAID 0. RAID 0 can increase sequential performance, but it does not provide data redundancy. Failure of either drive can affect the combined storage volume.

Fahavi Computers will check the exact SSD arrangement before sale. Important professional files should always be backed up to separate external or cloud storage.

The laptop provides two accessible M.2 positions with PCIe Gen5 support. Its tool-free access design makes future memory and storage servicing easier than on many premium laptops. rog.asus.com

Powerful components cannot provide full value if the cooling system cannot manage their heat.

ASUS equips the SCAR 18 with: An end-to-end vapor chamber, Tri-Fan cooling technology, A sandwiched heatsink, Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal on the CPU and GPU and Adjustable operating profiles through Armoury Crate

This thermal system is designed to help the processor and graphics card maintain performance during long gaming sessions, video exports, rendering and other intensive work. rog.asus.com

Fan noise and warm exhaust are normal when using Turbo or Manual performance modes. The laptop should be placed on a firm surface with clear ventilation and connected to its correct ASUS power adapter during demanding workloads.

The SCAR 18 provides: Two Thunderbolt 5 ports, DisplayPort and G-SYNC support through Thunderbolt, USB Power Delivery support, Three USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports, HDMI 2.1 FRL, 2.5G Ethernet and Headphone and microphone combination port

Thunderbolt 5 supports compatible high-speed external SSDs, docks, capture devices and professional displays. HDMI 2.1 allows direct connection to modern gaming monitors and televisions.

The 2.5G Ethernet connection provides faster wired networking than ordinary Gigabit Ethernet when connected to compatible network equipment. rog.asus.com

The full-size keyboard includes per-key RGB lighting and a numeric keypad. Individual key lighting can be customised through ASUS Aura Sync for specific games, productivity shortcuts or personal colour profiles.

The numeric keypad remains useful for accounting, data entry, 3D coordinates and keyboard shortcuts. The large touchpad also provides comfortable navigation when a mouse is not connected.

At approximately 3.48kg before adding the charger, the SCAR 18 is not intended to compete with an ultralight laptop.

Its advantage is that it provides a large screen and desktop-replacement performance that can still be moved between a home, studio, office, campus or gaming event.

The 90Wh battery supports lighter mobile tasks, but gaming, rendering and GPU-intensive applications should be used while connected to power. Maximum CPU and graphics performance is not expected during battery operation.

This configuration is best suited for: Enthusiast gamers seeking flagship mobile graphics, Competitive gamers wanting a large 240Hz display, Professional video editors and motion designers, 3D artists, animators and rendering professionals, Game developers and Unreal Engine users, Streamers who game, record and broadcast together, Architects and visualisation professionals, AI developers who need substantial dedicated GPU memory, Buyers replacing a high-performance gaming desktop and Professionals working between several fixed locations

Consider an RTX 5070 Ti or RTX 5080 laptop if you mainly play esports games, rarely use professional GPU applications or do not require 24GB of graphics memory.

Consider a 16-inch gaming laptop if you commute daily, travel frequently or work from small desks.

The SCAR 18 offers its strongest value when the buyer will regularly use its flagship GPU, large Mini LED display, substantial memory, storage capacity and desktop-replacement cooling.

Why This Configuration Is Worth Its Premium Position: RTX 5090 Laptop GPU with 24GB GDDR7, Maximum graphics power of up to 175W, Intel Core Ultra 9 processor with 24 cores, 64GB DDR5 memory already installed, 4TB internal storage for games and projects, Large 18-inch Mini LED display, More than 2,000 local-dimming zones, 2.5K resolution and 240Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 colour coverage, NVIDIA G-SYNC and Advanced Optimus, Vapor-chamber and liquid-metal cooling, Two Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI 2.1 and 2.5G Ethernet, Tool-free access to memory and storage and Per-key RGB keyboard with numeric keypad
